Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque 
The beautiful golden mosque in the center of BSB. It's great to walk around it and see the architecture, but what I really liked was going behind it into the shanty town. There are houses built on stilts in the water with small walkways to get between them on. Very interesting to visit. Hours: Sunday to Wednesday: 8am to 12noon, 2pm to 3pm & 5pm to 6pm more

K. H. Soon Services and Rest House 
Very basic and worn, but it's the cheapest place to stay in BSB after the only hostel was closed. The staff is very friendly. more

Brunei Hotel 
Living standards in Brunei are high and therefore it is almost impossible to find true budget accommodation. Brunei Hotel is good value for money prices start at € 50. The bonus is that the hotel is right in the centre of Bandar. The architecture of the building is none too aspiring, but when you are inside it doesn't show. The rooms are quite small but adequate and comfortable with airconditioning and cable TV. In the morning a complimentary English-language newspaper is shoved under the door. Three types of breakfast Asian (Fried rice), Chinese (noodle soup) or American (toast and jam). A free bus shuttles guests to and from the airport. more
