I'm looking to go on a "eco" style trip in either Costa Rica or Guatemala. Can anyone give me any tips on groups that organize good trips that you know about? I normally don't go on organized tours, however I am thinking of making an exception because I'm not sure how easy it is to get around alone in these countries and I do want to be able to experience a nice canopy walk or jungle trek, and that seems like something best organized with a group. And when is the best time to travel there? Money is limited, so looking for something inexpensive and fun.

If I were you I would email Globo member "third planet". He runs eco type trips in Brazil and Costa Rica (www.thirdplanetadventures.net). Even if he has not got anything going or is too expensive I am sure that he would know someone to put you in touch with.

He also has an interesting news letter.

Good luck!

Kerrie

You could check out Escondio Trex ( www.escondidotrex.com ). They are located on the de Osa Penninsula which is SW Costa Rica. This is by far one of the most isolated places in the country and you will see birds, alligators, animals galore. Escondido has a pretty well organized operation but doesnt seem it once you first see the business. What I mean is, they seem rather small and disorganized, but they DO know the best areas and good prices...you may be able to haggle with the price some. De Osa is really a great place and a must in C.R! Many people miss this small little area, but I would push going...dont worry about the long bus ride...it is worth it...
