Hi Globies
I know east and west of Canada but how about the mid states?
Transcanadian train gives opportunity to make one free stopover (2 days I think). The choice is: Edmonton or Saskatoon or Winnipeg.
Which one of these 3 places is most interesting?
I will be happy to get your opinions...
Thanks
Wojtek

Hi Wojtekd,
it's a difficult question. I don't know Saskatoon, but I made a short stop in Winnipeg, can't tell you anything. Last time I saw it it was a buildings site, but Edmonton I would favour, not only because of the museums and the historic town and some very nice old mansions, but although because it isn't far from Banff and when you plan your trip carefully it's nice, especially Sulphur Mountain.

Well, Edmonton is the largest of the three and closest to the Rockies if you plan on seeing them as well. It has the mall (West Edmonton Mall), great festivals all summer long, several decent museums, lots of historic buildings downtown and in Strathcona, a scenic train ride across the river, lots of parks and green space, and a variety of other things to see and do. Plus Calgary is only three hours by car or bus as well. If you really want to see Saskatoon, it is 5 1/2 hours by car from Edmonton.

I've been to Winnipeg several times and it has the Royal Canadian Mint, the Forks (a shopping area), and some nice historic buildings downtown. Other than that, I don't remember much.

Saskatoon in my opinion wasn't anything special the one time I visited. Basically just a small North American city with nothing special that I remember. I wanted to write a report on it but simply couldn't find enough to fill one out. Maybe I just didn't look close enough...

If I had to choose one, I'd suggest Edmonton. Check out my report on Edmonton to see if it's your cup of tea or not;

Thanks, dear Globies for your opinions.
Winnipeg will be the right choice, I think
