Roatan, Honduras - has anyone been?

I am off to Honduras and Guatemala in June and wondering - has anyone been to the Bay Island of Roatan? I am trying to decide between staying at a dive resort w/all its conveniences, or a less expensive hotel or motel. The island is larger than I thought so any tips would be appreciated!!! I read that the "Islas de la Bahía" is at the edge of the second largest barrier reef (after Australia's "Great Barrier Reef"), is one of the best kept secret destinations in the Caribbean (well it was till now :-)?
