Located in the middle of the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor, on the surface, Red Deer seems like little more than a place to stop for gas and/or a coffee while travelling between the two cities.
In reality, Red Deer has a lot to offer. Sylvan Lake, Alberta's equivalent to Muskoka cottage country is a few minutes away on one of Alberta's nicest lakes. Located on Hwy 11, it also provides a scenic and lesser used path into the Rocky Mountain parks, enterting near the Jasper/Banff National Park's border. [edit text][editors]
