Fernie is a mountain nestled in the Canadian Rockies between the Crowsnest Pass and the Kootenay Pass. It is an outdoorsman's dream, with fly fishing, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and camping to name just a few activities.

The town suffered two devastating fires in 1904 and 1908, so the town fathers decreed that new buildings must be made of stone instead of wood. Hence, the town boasts some incredible turn of the century architecture. The town courthouse, library, and several others are stunning. Fernie also finished a major renovation of its 'downtown last summer (2004). [edit text]  [editors]
