Palmeira - a view to the Mt Grande

Palmeira, on the western coast of the desert island of Sal, is a tiny little place with nothing to do and see. It has a harbour, from where one can try to take a boat, often just a cargo boat, to other islands of the archipelago. It has a few tourist shops and a couple of very simple eateries, although the surroundings and the landscape cry for more recognition. It is therefore just matter of time before the town converts into a bustling tourism centre. It will not be able to compete with Santa Maria, since it hasn't got nice beaches. Palmeira is also a short stop over for the route of cliffs, natural swimming holes and the desert track all the way to the extinct volcanoes in the northern part of the island. [edit text] [editors]
