Xian is the one of most ancient capitals of the world and that’s because it was the capital for 12 dynasties. It is located in the central area of Northwest China and is now the capital of the Shaanxi Province, famed for being the beginning of the Silk Road.
The city is surrounded by the high city wall, with only 4 entrances and basically there are 4 main attractions: the Great Islamic Mosque, the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower and the Provincial Museum which has a rich collection of cultural relics.
But as of 1974 the area has seen increasing popularity with the discovery of the Terracotta Warriors. There are also other sights which are worth visiting including Large and Small Wild Goose Pagoda and the fascinating fables told. Finally, the most well-known park in Xian is the Huaqing Pool Park, which has a history of over 3,000 years and contains hot springs which the emperor and his concubines would relax.
