Lousa - Portugal, Coimbra I felt I had identified the looks of Portuguese people likely to speak English and I wanted to know the way to the castle. I identified one such woman. 'Do you speak English', I asked. 'Oh God', she replied, 'is it that obvious. I've lived here two years!' She was as English as I am - but it did get me the route to the castle!
