The National Trust, which owns it, describes it as an intimate 17th century manor house and that's spot on.
Going in from the main road you pass a large and busy duck pool and see a fine old tythe barn to your left [usually open to visitors] and the main hause ahead.
It contains fine oak furniture and pewter as well as a number of 17th century embroidery and tapestry exhibits.
Leave time to wander in the lovely peaceful garden and you may like a snack in the cafe.
