Gallery update delayed

This will take more time than expected as there are time consuming processes involved that recalculate already uploaded pictures. There are about 40.000 pictures in the galleries up to now, multiply this by 5 (different versions of the same pic) and you will have an idea about what is going on. Moving 200.000+ pictures around and doing image functions on them takes a huge amount of computer power and computer time. Despite all that, I can already tell that it will be definitely worth the effort!! As soon as the new version is ready for installing, member login will be disabled for quite a few hours to perform the image calculations on the production servers of GLOBO. I expect this to be the case in the next few days. The gallery update is currently in progress. The conversion started on Monday 5:30 am (GMT+1) - where traffic is lowest - and will take approximately 4 to 5 hours. We are converting over 80.000 pictures in the galleries where each one will take on average 0,2 seconds. This time may vary in response of traffic coming in on GLOBO. As traffic picks up during Monday morning the conversion times might increase by up to 100%. Login, and sign up have been disabled during the process to secure data integrity. A full backup has been performed before conversion. As soon as the images are converted and the new GLOBOsapiens travel portal software has been installed, login and sign-up will be available again.
