Hello everybody,

some of you might have already noticed. The link to GLOBO in German language has been removed. As of today the German site will be redirected again to the English GLOBOsapiens.net site.

The German site has never picked up, as most users tend to move to the English site as there is way more going on. Despite the fact that you could (and still can) select within the report section which reports to display (German, English, or both), people had the impression that the sites have been divided. We are correcting this error now. All URL's which have been previously on the .de site automatically redirect and show the same content on the .net site. That means that all profiles and members have been moved to the English site.

This brings us following advantages:

1. Way faster development and therefore more improvement in shorter time. Resulting in a better GLOBOsapiens.

2. No separation between the community resulting in better interaction among members.

3. If somebody was searching for GLOBOsapiens from Germany, he was having a hard time to find the English site due to restrictions on search engines.

4. Search engines will rank GLOBO now higher as some of them had the impression that we are playing with false cards duplicating the content to another domain. This has always been a problem with that concept. We expect that this will now improve over the next months.

5. Less confusion if you talk about GLOBOsapiens to friends. Now there is only one page and they might not end up on the German site looking for you.

6. Focus on one page makes everything easier and improves the chances of taking GLOBOsapiens further.

7. Concentration of spent marketing budget on one page.

The advantages of GLOBO in another language have never kept up with the disadvantages it delivered. The resources of development alone to create two different languages for each function have been tremendous. From now on this time will go into faster development of GLOBO.

I received a couple of e-mails over time to have a French or Spanish Version as well, but after rethinking this process all leads to the fact that there can only be one site. Our name says it all: GLOBOsapiens. Not LOCOsapiens or similar. We are one GLOBal community and that move now underlines this statement.

Best regards,

Andy

Hello Bertison,

good point. I have just corrected this. Thank you for your notice. You do rank now on place 39 page 2, just ahead of cycleboy.

Another courageous decision Andy. Without testing the options one would never have known and always wonder what the response would/could have been.

I hope that one day all the menus (the buttons, also ads ) and the directions be given in various languages according to a members choice (filter?). Great and important is that now photos, reports, tips etc are in ONE databank. A friend of mine said this is complicated but I hope otherwise...

I like the idea that members of a same language can communicate with each other in various languages and that members may choose to add comments in their own language. Further in sector "Forum" we should open an international section where members of various languages can ask for travel advice and are guided through the GLOBO thing. We could appoint "ambassadors" to help staff moderate that and all foreign text anyway? I am willing to moderate such an international forum.
