Please read my previous posting regarding the update in case you have missed it: http://www.globosapiens.net/topic-gallery-update-delayed_58_3348_0000.html The conversion was successful and took about 6 hours to convert all pictures into the desired formats. Here is what we've got now: - Increase of regular image resolution in full mode and in pop up mode from 400px width to 468 px width. - Nonpaying members do have now also access to 600px width images. This used to be a premium feature. - All new 1024 pixel width high resolution images for premium members!! (please upgrade your account and support GLOBOsapiens) The new format is available, if the uploading member has uploaded his picture with at least 1024 pixel width. About 35 Percent of the already uploaded images are available with this resolution. This is my personal favorite feature now as it is a pure joy to see the images in a decent size. - Increase of feedback lenght on pictures from 256 to 1000 characters - Increase of comment length inside pictures from 155 to 1000 characters - No image quality depending on points anymore or sign ups. All pictures are Full quality now - Quality of images has been increased as the dropping of quality reduction software, which was needed before is now obsolete. Images are now much clearer. - Server load, as well as loading times, have been reduced to to the above mentioned point. - Unregistered members (or not logged in members) can now display up to 5 pictures until GLOBO asks them to sign up and redirects them automatically to the sign up form (please always login when you are on GLOBOsapiens) - Spell checker inside picture pop up window after rating - Spell checker inside the upload form - Upload form has been improved. German loading animation replaced by international one, wider and higher comment fields. - performance improvements (under the hood) that you might notice once you "zaap" the pictures with the new "previous" and "next" buttons. - Comments have been moved underneath the image to be more consistent with the feedback text and to allow users with lower resolution to display more of the image without scrolling - Buttons rearranged, now on top of the images - Images for upload can now be up to 1 MB instead of 0,5 MB. - Bugfixes Sooo... Can see myself spending even more time on globo now. You are right, a decent picture size makes all the difference. And I'm glad that I don't have to spend extra time with Photoshop to reduce the size of my photos anymore, as they are usually over 500kb. A huge improvement! The conversion of the old pictures worked well too I had a look at some oldies of mine and was impressed :-) There are some problems I found posted those in the error reporting forum.
