IM: Maximum upload size increased

andreas Joined: May 02 Points: 8309 Posts: 808 Posted: 2007-11-13 16:40:00    IMPROVEMENT galleries: The maximum file size an image can have before uploading has been doubled yesterday in a test round to 1MB in result of the large gallery update. As there are no major errors found so far the file size has been tremendously increase now to 8MB. That will allow you even to upload most of the files from 10 Mega pixel DSLR Cameras to your galleries. Please note that even if this works now, you will see faster upload times if you downsize to 1024 prior to upload. My first reaction is that we don't need 8MB Files for general Gallery pictures, however it would be really great to have those big files for a "competitional" Gallery. I really think the big size and resolution now possible could lead to a big improvement on quality. Could Globo become an alternative to Pbase or similar (still with the restricions of Travel related?) could we have a special Gallery with the best of the best pictures as there is one in fhotocommunity.de the special Gallery part. The text of the Gallery in German says: Hier kannst Du keine Fotos hochladen. Bilder, (Fotografien oder Werke) aus allen anderen Channeln , die eine Mehrheit der abstimmenden User für besonders gelungen, auffallend oder aussagekräftig hält, werden in diesen Channel einsortiert. Just some thoughts Anyway it makes it a lot easier for lazy people to upload better quality stuff as there is not much work to do for an upload as the restrictions on filesize and weight are not that tough anymore. I have experimented with a couple of pictures and the results are so easy to achieve.
