Redesign of memberlists including friendlists:

- Bigger profile pictures in the list

- Buttons added to each profile in the list

- Integration of member comments

As I just noticed there is an issue with Microsoft Explorer (I hate this ugly browser, I really do!), if you see green links instead of blue ones in the members list you need to clear your browser temporary files. That Explorer is just not smart enough to do it by himself. Go: Menue: Extra: Internet options: Clear temporary files: Delete files. Reason is that IE keeps the old file instead of downloading the new one. Sorry for that. I recommend using firefox. It's like driving a porsche instad of a rosty car.

This is wonderful but have we considered the new word "network" instead of "friendship"? We members have rarely met each other! In Europe and most the world friends are very very close. In the USA less, they call friends anyone that they have met before! On the web now one has a "network" (friends) and a "blog"(weblog/travellog)! I am old now but I know what the young generation of travellers need. They are our future. How about an award for YOUNG travellers, not always us dinosaurs, like "JoM" for them?

RR

PS: I now use 5 different browsers parallel (FireFox, Opera, IE, AOL & T-Online) since each have a weakness and strengths. Firefox was a disaster last month not allowing pop ups to show the whole pic and without scroll bars or max buttons, including those at GLOBO! That is when I rather installed Opera. I wish staff would eventually do a survey then realise that 70% (more?) of visitors at GLOBO use the only simply IE and that we should concentrate on web-design there first!

Hello Rudi,

thank you for your constructive feedback. Did you know that the original GLOBOsapiens slogan was "Global Travelers Network"? That changed I believe in 2005 to "travel community". I like the term "travel network". So basically I can imagine having a button their that says instead "add to your friends", "add to your travel network". It could also state in the profiles instead of "my friends", "my network". There are just two downsides I do see:

1. Is the term "network" internationally known and do the people on GLOBOsapiens get the meaning? What is a network? Is the term commonly known or would it need explanation. What's the opinion of the english native speakers on that. Network, or Friends?

2. If we change the term to network, we would need a word for the people in it. The current friends box inside the member profile shows "Friends", simply changing that to "people in my network" is not a solution as it is to long and more complicated in my opinion. My knowledge in english is very limited. I believe we can open a new thread on finding a term for this. Same as the "nudge a member" thread. Would you like to see a network on GLOBO, or friends?

You might want to consider the next update which is due as early as next week. That will bring invitation functionality for your "friends" (or your travel network, that will allow you to invite them and keep up with the people you met on your travels, including contact details (only visible to people inside your network) etc. So will this be: "invite your friends" or "add people to your travel network" ?

Thank you for your feedback. As you can imagine I am not able to consider all suggestions for implementation, but I believe that many of your ideas have already found it's way into GLOBOsapiens. You as a member of our travel community (or travel network?) have the opportunity to shape it and to see things come to live that on large sites like Yahoo are hard to imagine. Bring your ideas in and we will create a fantastic place together in the future to come.

Best regards,

Andy

Thanks for the recognition, all us active members also praise you for you continuous improvements.

Perhaps GLOBO should write an email to our sponsors and paid advertisers. It is they who decide improvements too?
