information about cambodia  Siem ReapCambodia, Si«m Réab
An outdoor display of landmines, incendiary devices, RPG HEAT (High-Explosive, Anti-Tank, a designation for a metal-line shaped charge used against both armoured vehicles and structures) rounds and other UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) that have been difused by Aki Ra, the founder of the Cambodian Landmine Museum. His story is covered in the January 2012 issue of National Geographic magazine, with a photo of him in front of the display appearing on page 101. The Landmine Museum has a plot of land near the display that contains examples of defused landmines and UXO that have been placed in and around the exposed dirt, dry weeds, trees and bushes so that they are either fully or just barely visible to the passing eye. Visitors are invited to walk around the plot and see how many 'dangerous' devices they can spot (I think there was 20 total to find); I only found about 8, which illustrates how easy it is to accidentally stumple over something potentially maiming or deadly.
