Singapore City - Singapore The Kuan Im (Kwan Yin) Thong Hood Cho Temple is located on Waterloo Street near the Sri Krishnan Hindu Temple. A visit to the two temples is worth while. As Waterloo St. is closed to vehicle traffic in the vicinity of the temples, the assortment of vendor stalls selling flowers and incense for temple offering, fresh fruits, Buddhist amulets, Lotto tickets, cigarettes, facial tissue, hand-made jewelry and the like, coupled with fortune-tellers divining your future across a card table, and the myriad worshippers making their way either into the temple to offer and pray before the alter (no taking of pictures or video is allowed inside) or to the front entrance of the temple with their backs to the alter to make prayers with three burning incense sticks held to their foreheads between pressed palms, makes for a rather festive atmosphere. Check out the wet / dry market across the street and sample its food court, and don’t forget to rub the nearby Laughing Buddha for good luck.
