I have been there also, same as Peru, twice: the first time we traveled through Rajastan, Agra and Varanasi, and a short visit to Haridware, finally spending the millenium night in Delhi.
At the second trip we had taken a flight up to Srinagar, and a looooong bus journey via Kargil to Padum. In approx 10 days we hike down to Darcha on our own.
By bus via Manali and Daramsala back to Delhi.
