Hi Globies

Did anybody visit this strange republic?

Any down-to-earth tips for independent traveller?

Is there a ferry from Antalya sailing to Kyrenia in

October?

Thanks...

We were in Northern Cyprus a few years ago. It worth a visit because different from Turkey and Greece yet similar.

We went from Mersin (south Turkey east of Antalya) to Tasucu, but they also go to Famagusta.

On the way going we took the sea bus. I am never seasick, but this time I was and everybody on board. The problem is that then the waves in the Mediterranean are smal and the boat skips across them. We were told that the crossing took three hours but it was near to five in reality.

On the way back we took the normal ferry, which took longer but a thousand times more comfortable.

We asked the staff of the sea bus if the weather had been very rough. Their answer was 'no', but everybody was always seasick on this trip. I don't know if this is still the case they may have different sea buses. But that would not make much difference as all hydrofoils in the Medeiteranean have this skipping on waves problem. We had another disastrous trip from Athens to Monemvasia, I was not seasick but husband and our childeren were.

I am already looking forward to your photos.
