I am planning to walk the Camino in Oct04. Only have 3 weeks and was planning to start at St Jean-Pied-de-Port and see how far I can trek, I plan to return next year to complete it.

Anyone out there "walked the walk" and able to give me any advice? Would be much appreciated!! Also might be looking for a companion to share the journey, I would be happy to go alone but was thinking that the company of a kindred spirit to share the up's and down's would probably be cool. So if anyone's interested, email me.

Thanks in advance.

J

Hey J

Hope you're still on track for the Camino - it's a unique journey. I walked with a group of five others (all of us from South Africa) in May, and can recommend it as something to do at least once in your lifetime.

We did the French route, leaving Leon on the 5th May and arriving Santiago 3 weeks later, averaging 20km p/day. It was one of the hardest and most amazing things I've ever done.

There's so much I could tell you about the trip. If you have any specific stuff you want to know I'd be glad to share my experiences.

RE walking w/ someone: there are days you want to be alone, and days you want to share the walk. The shared walks seem to go by far more quickly if you talk along the way. Even if you start out alone, there's no doubt you'll find people to walk with - you meet people of all ages from everywhere, some of whom will want a kindred spirit along the way too.

Keep in touch if you want more input, otherwise Buen Camino!! :-)

Cheers

Erica
