I am heading to UK, Dublin, and Amsterdam this September. I am planning on day tripping from Amsterdam to Cologne. Anyone been there, any suggestions? Or should I just focus on Holland and maybe visit Rotterdanm? If so anysuggestions for Rotterdam??
Thanks

Hi Elena,
Cologne is surely worth a visit. And it's not easy for me to give such a word of praise: I am from Duesseldorf, and we are like cats and dogs with our neighbour Cologne!
At first of all, there is the cathedral - a must see! Than you have a couple of very interesting museums there like the Romano Germanci Museum.
Also it could be an interesting experience to get an idea of what we call 'Rheinische Lebensart' / rhineland manner.
But as I mentioned above, I am from Duesseldorf - and therefore (but also because it's really a wonderful place) I can also recommend to you to visit the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia: Duesseldorf. Maybe you'll find the time to stay a night there to enjoy not only the architecture, shopping-facilities, Rhine-promenade ..., but also the nightlife...
