Hi

My boyfriend is going to Barcelona and he is looking for a good hostel. He and his friends want something close to the center. I have seen hostels lists and notice that Gothic Point and Sea Point are well ranked.. but I would prefer to hear some personal experiences. Does anybody has gone to any of these hostels?????

Thanks in advanced....

Hello:

I can tell you about Gothic Point. Well... it is well located, it 5 steps far from a subway station. Also, you can go walking to “Las Ramblas”, like 5 minutes. Gothic is located near or in the Gothic Barri, which is one of the nicest places in Barcelona (is very “bohemio”).. but be careful of your wallet and personal things.

The place has internet, separate bathrooms (for girls and boys).. The beds are ok,, you have a locker just behind for bed (for personal things) and bigger lockers outside the rooms. You have “privacy” in the room, although you share it with more people, because your bed is like a little room.. where you close a curtain and nobody sees you..

The breakfast was ok...juice, bread, fruit... coffe..

Something different from other hostels was this: the staff organizes activities for young people, they take you to all the tourist places but cheaper than other places. In the night they take you to bars, nightclubs.. They have a person in charge of doing all this... Look at their web: http://www.gothicpoint.com/gothic_flash.html

My best friend went to Gothic Point last summer, she told me it was very well located and it’s true is not the best neighborhood, but it is very near from one of the main avenues of Barcelona. She saw more tourists than local people. Besides, she didn’t spend too much on the hostel.. I mean. .there was hot water, clean place, breakfast and a good bed...

I stayed at Sea Point Hostel about 2 months ago, its a top place, and its not far from everthing. number one its right on the beach and 2 its only 5min on the metro just get on at barceloneta stop and your at Las Ramblas in no time!!

Plus its a good eating spot with plenty of cheap places on the same street. Partys always are on the beach or Plaza Square if you have your six pack and conversation willing.
