Is My Travel Plan to Spain Available?

Hi, everyone!

I have 8 days next month and want to spend a vacation from China to Spain.

Here is my general itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive in Madrid, take the train to Malaga

Day 2: Malaga

Day 3, 4: Seville

Day 5: Granada, and back to Barcelona at night

Day 6: Barcelona

Day 7: Back to Madrid

Day 8: Fly back

Could I do this? Is the time too rushed?

I've got some useful information from webisites: http://www.travelguidesdirectory.com, http://www.allmadrid.com,

http://www.gobarcelona.biz

and so on. But still have detail pazzle. In addition, do you have any advices for accommodation?

Any advice is appreciated.

Wow, this is some heavy travel itinery. I have no idea whether it is possible, but trying to see so many cities means you'll miss so much. Sometimes less is more.

But I do hope you have fun, whatever your itinery looks like.

All the best

I think it would be a shame to miss Cordoba, when you are going to Granada and Sevilla. I sugest you do that instead of Barcelona and do the north-east [perhaps with the Baleaic islands] on a separate trip later.

Like Amanda, I wish you all the best, whatever you decide.

Thank you mistybleu and davidx!

I feel we'll be rushed too. It's a family trip. My mother's opinion is it's better to have a glance than never been there. oh~~I think most we'll be seeing a lot of trains, plains and airports but not much of Spain.

I have persuded her and decided to a Madrid/Sevilla itinery, each place for about 3 days. David, is one more day for Cordoba enough? If it is, we'll consider.

Thank you for your help!

You could easily spend two days at Córdoba - but on this I agree with your mother. You should definitely see the Mezquita [Great Mosque] that ranks alongside the Alhambra at Granada as a principal site of Moorish Europe. It doesn't need to take very long. Second I should put a trip to Medina Azahara

[http://www.43places.co m/visit/Medina-Azahar a-Cordoba-Andalucia/1278708]. Given your time limit I think you should allow a bit of time to look at the Roman bridge and Arab mill remains beside it [not long]

If you have time the Archaeological Museum is quite a knock-out.

Try to have a wander through the Judería.

I know that sounds a lot but on my first three visits I only had a night each time and I still loved the place - but I really enjoyed having an extra night the fourth time.

Hi longbow. I would advise you against it. I'm also big on fitting as much into as little time holidays, but I don't think your itinerary is very do-able. You would need to look at having at least a day and a half or two days in each city to make it worthwhile, or you will spend about half of your vacation time travelling, i mean on the train. e.g train from BCN to madrid is 6 hours.

Madrid to malaga will be a fair bit more.

also when exactly are you going?

if you have to fly out of madrid id suggest spending more time there when you arrive and then get a flight from bcn (20 Euro with vueling.com)which leaves you at the right time in the airport to coincide with your return flight. there's only one airport in madrid so it would be better to not have to back-and-forth from the airport.

Try and cut out one place and look at flights on vueling.com to save your time. they're cheap.

Also area info for BCN- http://www.way2stay.com/area-info-Barcelona-en-52.htm

see what you'll be missing if you only spend a day there.

I also think that you will be pushing yourself too much.

I recently returned from Spain and if you see my story "Travellers Tips" I made the mistake of trying to cover too big a distance. It is big country, distances are further than you think.

I am not sure of the attraction to visit Malaga, Seville we only spent the day due to a lack of available accomm, Granda's Alhambra is the highlight - we visited in the afternoon session and didn't ovenight there. There is no way I would have attempted to go to Barcelona from there but I would have liked to - so good luck!

I also agree with David, Cordoba is a must see because of the Mesquita but you could do it in a day so a night would see you out on such a tight schedule.

Just my thoughts...cheers Kerrie

Hi longbow, I pretty much agree with all the comments - too much and too little time. I would slot in Cordoba, for sure - easy from either Sevilla or Granada - plus you do need more time in Granada - Alhambra takes time, then there Albaizin, the catedral and much more. Can you not fly into Malaga at the beginning ? Also, do not overlook the bus network in Spain - the buses are very good, very smooth and often faster than trains - e.g. Seville to Granada is best by bus. Whatever you are doing, have fun !

I see you didn't get many replies on your accommodation question....so here's my recommendation:

If you intend to book a trip to different cities in Spain (or wherever in Europe), I know a nice travel agent from Germany who is spcialised in individual travel and also knows unique (=authentic) ldogings, and they can be affordable let me tell you... I referred a few friends to her already since I made good experiences with her myself. Her Email address is silkestenger@freenet.de

She's independent and compares deals on request, nothing's too crazy or complicated for her ;-) Big advantage: she puts all the documents in order, tells you about deadlines and translates! Good service, very rare!

However, I wish you a wonderful trip to Spain! Let us all know how it went for you.

Greetz from Europe!
