Visiting these cities during a 28 days long vacation over the Christmas and through the New Year. Anything not to be missed in either of these cities, besides the usual stuff? I have lived in Europe before for a year (Netherlands/Belgium/Italy), but since I am bringing a friend to Europe for his first time, I want to show him all the best, secret spots that these fine European cities have to offer. Thanks!

Go visit the Brouwery Ei east from the central station in amsterdam. This brewery makes their own beer on site and has a great atmoshpere, no music and loads of local amsterdamers. the brew is strong, be warned, and the place is only open till 8pm, wed. thru to sunday. It's inside the windmill, and in the summer you'll see many people sitting outside.

Ei is dutch for egg yet it's also a play on the name of the inland sea to the north east of amsterdam.

you wont find many tourists in there, yet there are hundreds of bottles lining the walls.By a souvenir t-shirt like no other tourist will ever have, and do drink the brew or dont bother going in. You can crawl to the bus stop to get back to the centre of town later !!

Hi

In London I recommend that you don't miss the chaning of the guards. I thought it would be a pretty dull show but I have to say that I was very impressed :-) In Paris you should not miss out on Versailles. This palace is so impressive and beautiful...apart from that you can visit obvious places like Notre Dame, Eiffel tower, Place de la Concorde, Sacre Ceour, Arc de Triomphe etc. My favorite in Venice was the ”Secret Itinerary” tour at the Palazzo Ducale (Doge’s Palace). I have posted long trip reports with lots of pictures from my trips to these cities on my homepage www.gardkarlsen.com :-) Maybe you can find some useful information there. Have a great trip :-)
