Hi,

I just moved to Barcelona a month ago and I absolutely love it! I was just wondering if anyone has advice about what I definitely should not miss out on whilst I'm here....

Unfortunately I'm only here till February, but I want to make sure I make the most of my experience. I'm obviously planning on seeing all the tourist attractions (La Sagrada Familia, Casa Battlo etc,) but can someone advise me on the lesser known "rincones" (corners) of Barcelona... bars, restaurants, sights and attractions that are less touristy??

Graciassssss!!

Hi,

I would recommend visiting a fantastic little bar called Ambar. It is very trendy, serves wonderful mojitos and is where all the Barcelonans like to hang out on a Friday and Saturday night. The deco is really vintage and cool, with empty picture frames on the walls and retro lamps. (Sant Pau, 77, Barcelona, 08001)

As well as this, make sure you go to the Caixa forum, it's a free exhibition centre and has some fantastic exhibitions on at the moment, including Alphonse Mucha and the Uffizi collection. There is also a free guided tour in castillian at 7pm everynight during the week. (Av. Marquès de Comillas, 6-8 ) Metro: L3 L1 Espanya.

Also, head to Gracia for rincones, Gracia is largely undiscovered by tourists and here you can wander round the pretty pedestrianized streets and look at the boutiques. It has a lovely atmosphere there and isn't far away as it is at the top of Passeig de Gracia (L3) Fontana. Unfortunately you aren't going to be here to see it, but the fiesta de Gracia in the summer is amazing, the streets are filled with decorations, celebrations, music and themed bars. I can't recommend it highly enough, maybe you should come back in the summer!

Hope this gives you some food for thought.

The first Sunday of every month the Museum Picasso is free for everybody! But go early in the morning because there are always many people wanting to visit the museo. It is located close to Calle Princesa, exactly in Calle Montcada, número 15 - 23.

Loren56, I've just read about a really cool exhibition taking place in El Born at Hotel Chic & Basic, carrer Princesa, 50 (93 295 46 52) this Saturday in Barcelona! When are you getting here?

It is called Changing Room Frío 08 and is free. The thing about this exhibition is that it's not really like an exhibition at all, because in fact, it is in the rooms of a hotel. You ask for the number of the room where it all starts and go up the elegant staircase to the exhibition. Grab a drink and walk past the white walls with flickering LED lights.

Designers have collaborated on this and their work is displayed in each room, there are 30 rooms in total. You can buy if you like, and there will be a showcase of Sinnamon Records & Friends to entertain everyone for the evening. If you like galleries, art and music, this will be the perfect exhibition for you.
