Hi! I've just booked a ticket to Athens for an 11 day visit to Greece in April. It's my first time there and I guess it'll be just a "sampler" of some of what Greece has to offer. If you've been to Greece, I would love your tips of what you'd do in Greece for 11 days in April. Not sure what I'll do after I arrive in Athens....

Thanks!

Hi there,

Although it has been some years since I was there I have also had family & friends visit Greece in recent years.

It all depends on what you are looking for in a holiday. Both island we went to to were not low key.

Basically I would recommend a 2 night stopover in Athens at the start & 1 night on the way back through. This allows you enough time top see the major sights ie the Acropolis and hang out at the Plaka and then escape as it is a real rat-race. We headed off to Mykonos for a couple of nights. This is a real beach (& gay) island. Hire a moped and cruise over to Paradise Beach. It's really hip and lively. Be warned, the further you go along the beach the less clothing is required, a bit of an eyeopener!

We then went on to Santorini (Thira). Postcard Greece. If you go skip the volcano tour it's piss poor.

Just a tip, if you are island hopping the ferry trips are looong. If you can, opt for the hydrofoil. It's more expensive & a little claustrophobic but well worth it.

If I went back again I would definately try to get to Crete and to Meteora so if you make it let me know what it's like.

Have a great trip!

Kerrie

Hello

I agree with Kerrie: Athens, islands of Santorini and Mykonos as the samples of sea landscape and folklore, I highly recommend the monasteries of Meteora - there is no similar place on earth and if you are interested in ancient places go

to Delphi (nice location) rather then Olympia or Mykenes...

Enjoy!
