heylo everybody! i need some help! been beating my head against a brick wall trying to get info on this one:

i'm a US citizen living in the UK, and i wanna live in france for 3-6 months, but i need to work while i'm there. what do i do? i can't seem to find any info on a working holiday visa, so i don't know if it exists for france.. does it? do i have to have an employer lined up before i apply? and do i have to go back to the states to apply for it? basically, i need some advice. if you were me, what would you do?

thank you!

johanna

Hi Johanna

First of all welcome to the site. Do enjoy some of the photos and reports while you are seeking information. I know nothing about this except what I can glean from the Internet. However, http://www.anyworkanywhere.com/visas_fr.html lists three countries with which France has a working holidays agreement and it doesn't include the USA.

I think you need to go to http://www.consulfrance-londres.org/ , get the English version and then the visa homepage. Look carefully and see whether any of the options on the left will answer your question. I think they may well not, in which case the 'contact us' site shows you how to contact the French Embassy by phone or e-mail.

Cheers, David

hey!

thanks for your response!

yeah, i've been to the french consulate in london website. as well as the french-USA website. i've contacted the UK consulate and two US consulates by email and received no response. you can't speak with anybody in the UK consulate, and it costs £1/minute to listen to a useless recording. i called the chicago based consulate, and they couldn't give me any advice, and i've also contacted the US embassy in paris and received no response.

now i'm assuming that a working holiday must be out of the question since i've looked at that other page you mentioned. looks like its only offered to those specific countries they have agreements with. :(

Yes, I'm afraid that's how I read it.
