Kirkjubour is a village which was once the most important place on th Faroe Islands. A cathedral was started there but was never finished and it remained more or less ready for roof and tower for centuries. Now it lies under a sort of tarpaulin to dry out ready for work on it to recommence.
The rostoyan is an old farm, partly occupied by its owners and partly converted into a museum.
St Olav's Church has highly ornamented metal gates but is very plain inside. One of its predecessor buildings had beautifully carved pew ends. These were removed to a museum in Copenhagen but have now been returned to the main museum in Torshavn. [edit text][editors]
