Travel guide to Nolsoy
Nolsoy Church
Nolsoy Church
Nolsoy is one of the smaller populated islands of the Færoes and shares the name with its principal village. After Mykines it is said to be one of the best places to see puffins close up but that involves a fairly lengthy and arduous trek.
It is world class for storm petrels but that means staying on the island as the birds are at sea until late.
There is a major walk [said to be 7 hours return] from Nolsoy village to the lighthouse at the far end of the island.
Advice to those planning a visit.
1. Look at the ferry timetable carefully - it's not the same each day.
2. Allow a lot of time for the lighthouse, petrels or puffins.
3 If you are considering a short visit, the crossing is good but you might well prefer the one to Sandoy.
4. If you want a short time on Nolsoy head up to the viewpoint left of the ferry port - on the lower end of the island. [edit text]  [editors]
