Eckerö is in the northwest of the Åland Islands, a Swedish-speaking province of Finland. It is home to the ferry terminal of the Eckerö Line, which provides the shortest crossing from Sweden and is linked with the Island capital, Mariehamn by one of the five bus routes [http://www.alandstrafiken.aland.fi/Engelska/indexeng.htm].
Arriving at the ferry by bus you will see nothing else at first. For the historic Customs and Post House you need to walk back on the road and then turn to your right, while for the Hunting and Fishing Museum you are best off taking a footpath in the opposite direction. Just wandering around the old buildings on this side is as pleasant as anything. It makes a good day out but does not earn number 1 status if you only have a short time in Åland. [edit text][editors]
