If you try to find Rennes-sur-Loue in a search engine, you'll be swamped with references to the Rennes in Britanny and you could be forgiven for thinking this place on the River Loue, a tributary to the Doubs, is a myth.
If you try on Maporama you can at least find that it exists and wehere it is.
Actually for those wanting a holiday in 'Rural France' but not at all sure where, the Département of Doubs is an excellent choice with its marvellous rivers and cirques.
No river in the province is prettier than the Loue. Whereas Rennes lies outside the stretch of the Loue given special treatment in the guidebooks, you might well think its peace is a sufficient compensation and its an easy drive to the delightful source of the river and its slightly bigger villages.
Rennes is itself no more than a delightful settlement with picturesque bridges and a private chateau. However it makes a fine centre and http://www.amiesenfranchecomte.com/pro_cla.htm can be recommended. [edit text][editors]
