Bakoteh - local pranksters

Bakoteh is a large residential area in the south-east part of the Serekunda conurbation. There is not much to see there, apart from a large mosque, fruit and veg market and a large community of Christian nuns. There is also a large children refuge (called SOS), but the most enjoyable spot is a football pitch frequented by small boys, who assemble in teams and clubs, name them after their favourite English clubs, play there and treat every match very seriously. Placing bets is a common practice, mainly by the players themselves. [edit text] [editors]
