Anyone been there recently? any major changes or anything... what currency are they accepting now? I'm flying there on the 26th Jan for a week to backpack around (my feet are too itchy and Canada (Winnipeg) is wayyy too cold right now.

I have never been but a friend in the Spanish speaking circle I go to is very knowledgeable on the subject. He has spent a lot of time in Cuba and is going to give us a talk about it after an impending visit.
The downside is that the visit might be so impending that I shall not see him before he goes. If I am in time, I shall see him tonight and will see what he can tell you. Assume I have been unsuccessful if I don't come again.

Seth's trip was a bit less impending than I feared and he was there last night for an interesting talk by a Chilean on the 1973 coup and its aftermath.
