Is Permethrin the best Mosquito solution?

eirekay Premium account Joined: Aug 03 Points: 19539 Posts: 214 Posted: 2010-05-07 20:40:00    Going (back) to Guatemala in 5 weeks on what we are terming the "Hammocks & Snakes" tour (to El Mirador, the world's largest pyramid) - 6 days hiking in the rain forest with only what our burro is carrying. I've sprayed clothes with Permethrin (lasts through 6 weeks or 6 washings) before as an alternative to bathing in Deet, but has anyone used anything else? What else have you found to be effective? Has anyone used the "Bug-off" treated clothing that you can buy in Sporting Stores? It seems awfully expensive but I don't want to be eaten alive :-) --- Life is not measured by the breaths you take but by the moments that take your breath away.
