There's an interesting article in this month's Scientific American, basically debunking the popular anti-cold preventative /remedy "Airborne" http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?articleID=9389C0F4-E7F2-99DF-3BE657CAD1649375

So, if Airborne doesn't work, then what does? After all, traveling often presents situations where a person is sharing a tight, enclosed space with a lot of other people, a prime environment for passing on whatever germ is going around. And no one wants to be sick when on a journey, far from the conveniences and comforts of home, with limited time and lots to see and do.

My prime advice, above all else, is STAY HYDRATED: I carry a water bottle with me everywhere and sip from it often.

What do you do to keep healthy while on the road?

Liz

Hey Liz,

I use four things to keep me healthy; firstly like you said hydration is so important, so I always drink around two litres – one of those with a daily vitamin C effervescent tablet. I also use wet wipes or an antibacterial hand wash - constantly. If I feel anything I take some Echinacea to boost my immune system, these tends to work for me. After spending 20 days on a bus where everyone was coming down with something, I have to say it works, as I was the only one not to get sick by the end of the journey.
