Theme parks are great; however, it is tough to travel around a big park such as Disney World and enjoy everything in one day. I think everyone should tour the park first, and come back the next day to ride the rides. How do you plan a day at a amusement park.

Great Topic - we have done Disneyland and Disney World a number of times, with four kids in tow, and the key to success is EARLY, LATE and PARADE. Early: Lots of parks offer early access, disguised as a special breakfast, for a fee. Even if you don't choose that option, being first in the gate makes you first in lines. Late: after 7pm, most parks start to empty out. By 9pm, there are almost no lines, even for the most popular rides, which leads me to the next tip. PARADES: Okay, the parades are a spectacle, but unless you are really into craming with everyone else onto a one foot square piece of sidewalk an hour early to catch the Princesses as they dance by, this is a perfect time to hop on rides. The lines begin to thin an hour before parade start times and don't get back to full capacity until 1/2 after. Parades are usually 2pm, 4pm and 9pm. In the middle of the day, we go back to the hotel, take a swim and a nap, have dinner, then head back to the Park.

Map it out! Check out the theme park website and print the maps. Know what you want to see and where it is so that you don't waste time running from one side of the park to the other.

One last thing - my best experiences in Disneyland and Disney World have been in the rain. A little rain does not dampen the spirits - buy a couple of cheap plastic ponchos and for for it! We have little or no lines in the rain, all the rides are still open and the only down side is the "characters" are inside in shelters. No fireworks, but that was the only loss.
