Anomabu, a small town on the UNESCO-listed Ghanain coast, has two main qualities. Historical and natural. The historical is the Fort William. It was established for the notorious slave trade and then by the Ghanaian government as an infamous prison. Recently the prison was abolished and now it is possible to visit the fort, which is extremely interesting. It is very large and the grim evidence of slave and prisoners keeping is chilling. There is also an interesting church in town. The natural beauty of Anomabu is the beach. It is wide and clean. Part of the beach is shaded by palm groves. There are a few excellent accommodation options nearby, often used by the visitors from Accra in the weekends. [edit text][editors]
