Travel guide to Dixcove

Dixcove harbour

The small fishing town of Dixcove boasts one of the best preserved forts on the entire Ghanaian coast. It is the Fort of Metal Cross. It is usually painted white and it has typical star-based shape. It is positioned on a hill overlooking the town and the harbour. There are no beaches in Disxcove but the town is worth the trip to see examples of flamboyant mansions built in the colonial times and to see the fishermen at work, who often paint their boats right at the boat landing. There is much to do in Dixcove but it is a delightful little place, which can be visited on a half day trip from the beach resorts near Busua. [edit text] [editors]
