Komenda is a small village on the West Coast of Ghana, near Elmina. The village has two main qualities: two forts and a perfect beach. There are two forts in Komenda, one on each bank of the river, which divides the village in two communities, one friendlier than the other. One of the forts is a complete ruin and it requires good imagination to figure out that amongst the regular households, there was actually a fort in the past. The other is in much better shape. The fishermen community is very animated in Komenda, one that might rival the Winneba, closer to the capital. The beach, fringed by palmtrees is perfect. There are no tourists there and no resorts, so if one decided to come here for a swim, there would be no other travellers to bother. [edit text]  [editors]
