Kumasi in central Ghana is the capital of the Ashanti people, which once was the most attractive town in Ghana. The unusual architecture of Kumasi is long gone, but in the region there are a few villages, which retain fine examples of the buildings. Kumasi is a bustling busy town, whose traffic could be very stressful. There is not much to do in the city itself. The red fort in the centre was converted into a military museum, which is only just interesting. The rest of the city is chaotic and colourful - a typical African place. Kumasi offers a bunch of good value accommodations and legendary eateries, famous across the entire country. The roundabouts are decorated with over-the-top statues of kings and heroes, which make Kumasi stand out. [edit text][editors]
