Travel guide to Nzulezu
Ghana - Nzulezu, private mooring
Ghana - Nzulezu, private mooring
Nzulezu is a small village built on the waters of Lake Tadane in the Western region of Ghana. It was built on stilts and visiting the village is regulated by the tourism office. Tickets must be bought in Beyin on the mainland, and so must a guide be hired. The village is very small and the trip on the lake in a small canoe is a great experience. The tribe that lives in the village is very conservative and they do not accept intermarrying with other tribes. The village is relatively poor and support is greatly welcomed. The trip from Beyin to Nzulezu can take from 1.5 hours in the wet season when the lake is much larger to about 45 minutes in the dry season, when half of the way can be done on foot or in a vehicle.
