I noticed that the members who put "albums" or "slide-shows" together have always uploaded really top quality stuff to GLOBO generally. While every and any snapshot gets a member 10 points, I think an album (minimum 12 images) should be worth an extra 30-80 points to reward such a member. Also, albums should be rated too?

Like Marianne once suggested, we should encourage "photo-reporting" for those that are less skilled in writing in English (or German). Encouraging and extending the "album" feature at GLOBO is ideal for this and will benefit all contributing international members and viewers.

Now that the photographers comment is also shown below each slide in the show, I think this feature at GLOBO is even more interesting for non-English/German members too and could be an absolute multicultural hit on the web if used and promoted properly.

"A picture paints a 1000 words", a slide-show says it all!

Any small comment here appreciated......

good idea, rudi. and it would be great to seperate the text entry between uploadpic and albumpic. in an album i can tell a story but these words sometimes sound stupid on a single uploadpic. hope it helps.

Hi There

I second Rudi and Thorsten on this matter.

Hi All,

I also agree. Putting together a slideshow is sometimes just as time consuming as actually uploading the pictures in the first place so we should be able to rate them and get points for putting it together.

I totally agree with Rudi´s idea and especially with Amanda's comment regarding the time you need for an album. It consists of the pictures AND their selection which at last tells the story. For the story you look at many more pictures than you would normally load-up.

As one has to use uploaded pictures to put the album together, an extra of 20-30 points for the album itself should be ok. Or maybe 3 to 5 for every picture it consists of (extra to the picture upload itself). This would be closer to Rudi's idea.

I agree with all of you that creating an album and inserting photos takes up time and should be rewarded with globo points. However, there are two problems.

1. non-paying members can upload only 2 albums (I think it is 2)

2. there is no data base for the albums

That's why I suggested a 'photo report'. It uses the same format as reports only without the section headings. The photos in this type of report tell the story, the accompanying text is between 200 and 1000 characters (or more or less). As it is, reports have 9 sections, this would mean that a photo report consists of 9 photos telling a story, and showing a certain aspect of a place, a sight, a monument, a country.

The big advantage of Photo reports is that they are easier to compose especially for members who have English as a second language .

It also means that members who do not write many reports will have their own map showing the countries they have visited.

It would also be nice if there were no restriction to the number of reports that can be written about the same city. At the moment we can only write one. Especially for big cities reports can be written from different angles, and if we get the photo reports feature there should be no restriction at all.

I suppose that technically adding a photo report format is not very difficult or time consuming, whereas making a database for albums is.

Maybe one or two of us could write a photo report using the existing report format (giving it the title Photo Report of (e.g name of city or building or tourist sight).

This way we can see if this type of report would work.

Dear all,

what about a hit rate for albums and reports like we have for fotos? This would be a fine completion of the point and rate thread.
