andreas Joined: May 02 Points: 8309 Posts: 808 Posted: 2005-12-31 10:46:00    Hello everybody, as you know GLOBO does have some technologies installed which do contribute to a strong security. For example if somebody is trying to brake into your account with a password he/she is guessing the system will notify you after you login for fault login tries since last login. Within a certain amount of time there are also only 3 tries possible, after this the account will be blocked for 1 hour to make sure that nobody will use a so called "bruet force" atack. This means trying random passwords which might fit out of a dictionary. As you see braking into your account with a guessed password is really hard and almost impossible. Almost because it depends on your selection of the password. Is your password strong enough? I am asking this, because we did have a case where someone broke into toribios account guessing his very easy password. No idea why anybody should do this. I asume for the same reason as people do bad things in real live. My advice for you now is: select a strong password for your account! What are strong passwords? Strong means "hard to guess". For example a random combination of characters combinded with numbers will be nobodies guess. Example: kU3x1qPd What are week passwords? In general every password which can be found inside a dictionary. The name of a person, a dog or similar. Names of cities etc. A terrible thing would also be to use your user name as password. As GLOBO is a community, there is info available about your passions. For example if you pick a password which fits your description, that would not need many tries to guess. Per default your password does have to have at least 6 characters. So pick your password carefully, exchange it if you feel that your password is week. For example if you are a fan of Shakespeare, you can do something like this; Where for art thou Romeo? = WfatR Then add any number (22) you like and you have a very strong password; 22WfatR.
