Li River is one of China's top tourist destinations, and a boat trip on the river is a must to any tourist.
However,- although there is nothing wrong with the scenery,- it's truly stunning-, it is hard to fully enjoy it because of the commercialism, too many tourists, and too many noisy tourist boats crowding the river all at the same time.
Kit Yu and I saw that this was not really our style, and therefore we decided to walk along the river in order to get away from the tourist noise and hazzle,- and what a trip we had!
Over two days we hiked along the river and explored the countryside.
We saw parts of the river that were inaccesible to the tourist boats, and what is just as rewarding is the fact that besides the river scenery and the tranquility, we passed several traditional Chinese villages where time seemed to have stood still for quite a while, - villages that could not even be seen from the river.
The river scenery I have tried to capture in my main web site at www.geocities.com/kp_diver and therefore I have decided mainly to display village images here, except for a few other Li River related shots. Also I have decided to display pictures showing details from the village houses,- details that are very often special and very beautiful,- and very old!
The images are from several villages on both side of the Li River.
But let the pictures speak for themselves now.
