I lived and worked in Fukuoka city on Kyushu island in Japan. It is quite a contrast from the fast-paced lifestyle that existed in my previous home in Hong Kong. Fukuoka is a medium-sized city, not unlike my hometown in Vancouver, Canada. In fact, there are many scenes around Fukuoka that remind me of Vancouver, just on a smaller scale or with a Japanese twist! It's a relatively clean city and is touted as the least xenophobic part of Japan. I left Fukuoka in June 2004. What I will miss most about Fukuoka is the FOOD! Takoyaki, yakitori, okonomiyaki, yatai stalls....it's all very OISHI (delicious)!
