Our planet is still young and has many "hot-spots" of volcanic activity. The continent Africa is forcing against the mass of Europe and always pushing the Alpine mountains higher. The generated friction is often shown then on the surface as hot rock or water springs. There are many towns in the German speaking world with the name Bad ...... (Example Bad Tölz) that are hot spars based at places like this.
