Cafe Babalu
This is a converted home, so much so a little incove has sofas. When this area is full, it is like sitting and listening to friends chat.
It is a fun place as a result, it is more a place for a little lunch or a up of tea and a chat. Try the deserts which are really nice. more
Grillhusio
A mid priced restuarant - I think the most expensive thing on the menu was around 2,400 (Ł12), but then nothing is really cheap in Iceland. The food was great - a bit of an international menu, like fish and chips, with is a local favourite. This is also good value for money as you get a bowl of complimentary soup. On a cold day that is quite nice. more
Laekjarbrekka

Lobstership Restaurant
Frequented by tourists, the Lobstership or Humarskipiđ is quite a large restuarant that seats around 100 and is permenantly docked in the Old habour. The company also organises whale watch tours as well as angling and the people who catch some thing get it cooked for them. Whilst it isn't cheap it is worth a visit and I enjoyed my lobster dinner. more
Hotel Leifur Eiríksson
This hotel is in a great location, opposite the statue of Leifur Eiríksson, the Hallgrimskirkja and on Skólavörđustígur, a street full of galleries, cafes, shops and restuarnts as well as a few bars. It is a 10 minute walk to downtown. The hotel is 3 star and has around 50 room each with en suite, cable tv. They include breakfast and the staff is really helpful with booking tours etc. There was a russian guy on reception - Max who was incredible helpful, but sadly he went back home to Russia more
