This is absolutely one of the best national parks in Iceland; located almost at the side of the road is this glacier park. The glacier is part of the largest glacier in Europe – Vatnajokull and it is making its way down to the coast as a result of an eruption that occurred in 1996. It has three main tributaries which is worth exploring. There is a wonderfull falls - Skaftafellsjokull, with columns of cooled lava that reminds of the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland.
