They say that India is an assault on the senses - it is loud, overcrowded, dirty and smelly, yet it has a certain charm that allows you to examine a bygone era.

The main attraction of old Delhi is the Red fort - a wonderful example of Mughal architecture, the Jami Masjid (one of the largest mosques in Asia). Then there is the Chandni Chowk the heart of Old Delhi - this wide boulevard has a lot of shops and shrines.

Old Delhi is also renowned for its many bazaars where it seems you can buy anything, from gold to silver, silks, carpets, spices etc. It is fun to go on a bicycle rickshaw ride through the streets - you get a real understanding of the area. [edit text]  [editors]
