Travel guide to Simla
Simla, the current capital of Himachal Pradesh state, was the summer capital of India before independence.This beautiful hill-station is also known as "The Queen of Hill Stations".
Places to See:
1. Institute of Advanced Studies --This building was built in 1884-88 during British Raj and was the Viceregal Lodge. This is where the discussions regarding India's partition were held among Lord Mountbatten, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Jinnah and others.
2. Jakhoo Hill -- At the top is a Hanuman temple. Also worth the climb for the views from the top. Beware of the monkeys though.
3. Christ Church -- Is the second oldest church in northern India.
Other places nearby :
1. Naldehra (about 22 kms from Simla)-- The golf course here is among the oldest in India.Also, nice serene place to enjoy walks away from crowd.
2. Chail(45 kms from Simla) --Has the world's highest cricket pitch.
3. Kufri -- Go there after snowfall to enjoy skiing.
4. Fagu -- Fantastic views of of the valley. [edit text]  [editors]
